Meet Tracy

Triangle Nutrition Therapy is owned and operated in North Raleigh by Tracy Owens, a Registered Dietitian and Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. As a professional dietitian and nutritionist, I focus on providing practical advice for healthy eating — the kind of advice I employ daily in my personal life.

My interest in nutrition began when I was a nursing major struggling with the extra weight I had gained as a freshman. That, coupled with a required nutrition course for my nursing degree, sparked an enthusiasm for the field of nutrition that continues today.

More about Tracy:

As a self-proclaimed “middle of the road dietitian” and a non-gourmet cook, I give practical advice on how to improve homestyle cooking, including, for example, how to make a healthier meatloaf and mashed potatoes that the whole family will enjoy.

I grew up in a sports-minded family and as the mother of four active children, sports have been an integral part of our household. My two sons and two daughters have played a variety of sports, including: AAU baseball, USSSA baseball, Legion baseball, Challenge, United, Premier, and Elite soccer at Capital Area Soccer League (CASL), USTA tennis, summer swim team, and high school football, swimming, baseball and soccer.

At home and beyond, I have years of experience providing solid sports nutrition advice to all types of athletes. I have worked with young children, high school, collegiate and professional athletes, as well as active adults who just love to exercise and want to improve their game. Personally, I can be found on the tennis court playing USTA team tennis or working out at the gym. My current favorites include Zumba, P90X, Rival Health, high intensity interval training courses, or simply walking and talking with my close friends.  I completed Tobacco Road 1/2 marathon in 2010. I am contemplating a full marathon, just not sure if my joints can take that much running along with all of the hard court tennis time….will keep you posted!
